I am Sodiq Sulaimon, I hold a bachelor of engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering. I graduated with a First Class and as the overall best graduating student in 2014/2015 session from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE).
I have utilized and honed my communication and interpersonal skills through volunteering at Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) as a facilitator of career talks for secondary school students in our school community and by mentoring a number of students through their foundation years in school to inspire and motivate them to achieve excellence. I also delivered several lectures on road safety to people of Sokoto during my national youth service (NYSC) year.
I have demonstrated my teamwork and leadership qualities in different capacities. I was the captain of the PetroQuiz/PetroBowl team of my School. I led the team to quiz competitions organized by SPE at national, regional and international levels and won several laurels for our institution. I also served as the deputy speaker and the chairman of technical committee of the Congress arm of the Nigerian Universities Engineering Student Association (NUESA) where I was able to successfully inspire the first engineering week in my school which gave room for the engineering students to exhibit their ingenuity and also benefit from the experiences of engineers invited from various engineering disciplines. I was also the chairman of NYSC/Road safety education committee in Sokoto where I successfully coordinated road safety enlightenment programmes and established road safety clubs in three secondary schools. My performance earned me an excellent service award from the road safety club.
Despite the rigorous nature of my undergraduate programme, I was able to deliver timely on my academic, extracurricular activities and leadership responsibilities. My academic performance at undergraduate level earned me several scholarships and awards
